Leadoff Learning is an independently owned tutoring company that provides high-impact tutoring in mathematics for students between the ages of 6-12. We offer private tutoring sessions for the Mesa and Queen Creek communities, in an Eastmark Location, that are specifically designed around the needs of each individual student.

Our company is distinguished by the high level of service and support we provide to our students, our deep knowledge of school standards and requirements, a student-centric approach, and most importantly, a highly skilled educator who knows how to set and achieve goals.

We use a highly effective curriculum that dissects and teaches math through a unique, three-step strategy. This strategy moves from hands-on math to picture models to abstract mathematical problems and equations. This methodology solidifies foundational math skills while creating opportunities to learn more complex skills in an Impactful manner.

Our Process

Leadoff Learning uses a process that allows us to figure out exactly where a student is mathematically in order to create a plan and set goals that best suit their needs.

Meet the tutor

My name is Sam Karmia, and I'm the head tutor at Leadoff Learning. I've been teaching at the elementary level for nearly 10 years. I attended Butler University, where I gained practicum experience teaching and creating lessons for each elementary grade level. I also had the opportunity to student-teach in a 3rd-grade class and a 6th-grade special education class. After graduating in 2014, I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where I taught technology to students in the K-5 range. After my wife received her PhD from the University of Tennessee, we moved to San Diego, where I was a 4th and 5th-grade teacher for four years. Last year, I worked as a 5th-grade Math and Science teacher here in Arizona but decided to step away from the classroom to help students on a more individual level. Now, I'm ready to use my skillset and experience to create high-impact math tutoring sessions for individual students, whether they need to catch up, get ahead, or stay on track.
